I don’t know if other Canadians feel this way but this is extra heartbreaking for me because, at least in my community, immigration is such an important part of our culture. To see these poor people who could be here instead breaks my heart.

It’s an interesting debate fore sure. I skimmed the thread and I saw plenty of discussion about characters with disabilities or devices that help them. I didn’t see anyone mention Worf though. He became a quadriplegic and his spine was replaced
I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."
