The hydrogen blending is under the government's natural gas strategy. The data centre electricity generation is ostensibly under affordability & utilities but clearly it is intended to also be a tool of the natural gas strategy. Bring your own (natural gas fuel, not renewable) power generation.

Bonus: Mayor @jeromyyyc.bsky.social made a point to record that he was on the CTrain today, November 25. Respect.

• Finally, SROs and their leadership haven't completed the work to evolve the SRO program from its creation in the 1970s as a program with an enforcement approach that is clearly embedded in the program principles, and continues to this day. School-based policing is the pipeline to prison.

• There is a high component of social work in the role of a SRO, for which the police officers are not trained. Police could desperately use, specialists trained in mental health matters in youth on an hourly basis. Culturally responsive, youth appropriate methods are at the SRO's discretion.

• There is no specific training to school-based policing. Officers cannot cite a single statistic for the criminalization of children at school. No one will tell you how many children are arrested at school each year. No one will tell how the data is collected & managed for school-based policing.

• In the report is a quote that stays with me: "In my language, Dakelh, the Carrier language, we call the RCMP nilhchuk-un, which, interpreted in our language, is “those who take us away”. Really, it was the RCMP who took our children away. In many respects, that's the way we still see the RCMP."

• A lack of awareness and action with respect to systemic racism in policing. The parliament's Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security has a report on Systemic Racism in Policing in Canada. Few have read it. Even fewer care. www.ourcommons.ca/documentview...

• A continuation of the distrust of police in schools, particularly for Indigenous youth, owing to the trauma caused by police from enforcement of: Residential Schools, the 60s Scoop, the forced relocation of Indigenous people, and the woefully inadequate responses to MMIWG2S+ violence.

• CPS doesn't know how they would heal the harms that had been perpetuated in the SRO program. CPS hasn't documented the history & the harms of the SRO program, or of police in schools in general, sufficiently, to be able to even speak to what they would heal, if they actually intended to heal.
