We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity. Leaders who can subject their particular egos to the pressing urgencies of the great cause of freedom … a time like this demands great leaders.

Quote: "Gabriel Ehrlich, an economic forecaster at the University of Michigan, predicts the price of domestic and imported vehicles will increase 9.6 per cent on average over the several years it takes supply chains to adapt to Trump’s tariffs."

As everyone (except the President) said would happen.

Thus far, a total of 10.7% of the electorate in Calgary has turned out to the advance polls.

And in a change of pace for an advance polling period that has been less utilized than 2021, today set the record for Day 6 voting with 22,144 people casting their ballots.

Calgary. I was in shorts & a ball hat this afternoon + it was 20°C. I pulled the last herbs out of the outdoor garden at 4:30 pm. I packed open toed shoes for a party (but wore running shoes for the commute). Now it's snowing 5 hours later. This is 100% how we roll in Calgary, if you didn't know.

When I polish this alms basin at church, I'm haunted. Inscription is hard to read, it says: "Presented to St. Stephen's - Calgary by the AYPA Easter 1912". The AYPA is the Anglican Young Peoples Association. Just 2 years after this gift, they would be off to war. They're memorialized in the chapel.

Lest anyone perceive me as a fairweather, bandwagon, post-season baseball fan... that's me in the summer of 1995 at Olympic Stadium in Montreal watching the Expos. Tickets were priced for students and so was the beer. ⚾️

Incredible piece by the @sprawlcalgary.bsky.social & @klaszus.bsky.social. Amazing history. Bravo!

⁉️ Question ⁉️

Why did the City of Calgary have to loan the Flames $316 million until 2060? Couldn't Gary Bettman & the NHL (worth over $60 billion) loan the owners/CSEC the $316M over 35 years?

Calgary mayoral candidates are bickering about which arena deal was best—and who got fleeced. And an outgoing city councillor now says progressive councillors voted yes to the deal in 2023 "at great political cost." Here's how the deal got done. (Listen and/or read!) #yyccc

Visibility in literature is EVERYTHING.

On a blue background with drawings of books, white and yellow text reads, "'The best interest of young people is to be seen in literature.' Attributed to Maia Kobabe, LGBTQ+ author and illustrator. Banned Books Week." Headshot of Maia Kobabe appears with HRC logo.

And I'll bet Melania, when she was counting out Don's bedtime pills gave old boy a little acetaminophen (TYLENOL®) to take the edge off the arm ache.

“You don’t look sick” Thanks that’s the goal. But here is what you don’t see. I cancel plans, I rest for hours after a shower, I forget basic words mid sentence, I grieve a version of myself barely remember, fight everyday against a body that doesn’t cooperate. It is not just tired. It is chronic illness.

Due to a power failure no trains are currently running through downtown. The Calgary Fire Department showed up to help someone in a mobility scooter get off a train car. Mounted Calgary Police officers were walking by as well. Happy Friday.
