My personal advice when looking at the Oscar noms (and wins) is to celebrate & embrace the films and people you care about, and ignore the rest.

There is no such thing as a snub; this is an extremely contrived, arbitrary process, which is both important for the industry and utterly silly.

Dating from around 1865, this hooded parka from the Aleutian Islands in southern Alaska is made from seal intestines, a naturally waterproof & windproof material. Both robust & decorative, these seal gut parkas would have been used daily to keep warm & dry in this harsh environment.
