Collector of SF, Horror and Crime fiction for 50+ years. Lucky enough to have attended the 1st WFC and World Horror Conventions. Always in need of more bookshelves. Practices multitasking by watching 5 televisions at once on NFLSundays.
Way too long overdue. Congratulations

Happy to see the Sam hasn’t been completely forgotten. He was a deadly clutch shooter.

Black Rabbit for sure.

Well no luck. I thought this was a complete compilation of his work in F&SF but as the back cover states it only contains all his full page cartoons, reviews and fictions. So it might have still appeared there.

That helps. I have a compilation of his work in F&SF that was published a few years back. I’ll check it for you.

This one came to mind immediately, but it’s not quite what you described.

That sounds a lot like this book albeit with a different title. The Devil Thumbs A Ride features the same intro by Ed Gorman and Dow Mossman. It reprints all(?) of Gifford’s film review columns from Mystery Scene magazine. I can attest that it’s well worth the time of any fan of noir films.

The cover blurb in no way relates to the contents of this book. I realize that isn’t unusual but in this case it’s editorial malpractice.

Damn there was a Midnight Graffiti hardcover anthology? How did I miss that?

Alright. I thought he might be forgotten. I believe there is a recency bias that comes into play. Particularly in rating NBA players. There is not the wealth of video that the NFL enjoys for earlier eras. Younger members of the sports media are susceptible to it.

Where did they rate Cowens btw? He is criminally underrated. Those that never saw him play think he was some slow lumbering white guy. Most athletic white center I ever saw except maybe a young health Walton. Watch the Bucks/Celtic NBA finals on utube for proof.
