Improvising music and words, all over the shop.
A classic case of "por que no los dos?".

Very good point! And it is all the more serious because the change from uni block funding to fees+loans saved no money at all for government, but injected lots of risk and uncertainty into the economy. Let alone the individual impacts on people's lives. An utter neoliberal failure.

That sounds absolutely excellent and right up my street. I must keep an eye out for.

It'll go for £550k or slightly more, I'm fairly sure.

Standard Carlsberg is now 3.4% in the UK, and you know what? It's actually pretty good. It can be done.

I stand corrected!

Ah well, nevermind. We will always have his cinnamon challenge.

Funny, that’s the same amount that we gift the royal family every year.

But the 2CV would definitely be the more poetic way to go.
November 10, 2025 at 10:36 AM
True. And to be fair, brake technology has massively improved. Driver reaction, not so much.
November 10, 2025 at 10:25 AM
It is more true for the US, but don't forget that 30% of new car purchases in the UK are SUVs, and even family saloons are substantially higher, wider and heavier than they used to be (i.e. borrowing design elements from SUVs).
November 10, 2025 at 10:23 AM
Broadly agree but the trend for higher/oversized cars (which are less safe for drivers too) and the increased weight of electric vehicles create undeniable risks for pedestrians. Yes to limiting speed and restricting SUV use.
November 10, 2025 at 10:18 AM
Important to note that the tapering of decline in road deaths, particularly among pedestrians, has been attributed to the increased uptake of SUVs.
November 10, 2025 at 10:14 AM
regarding your second point, that's true for the occupants of those cars but not those outside it. Modern cars are more deadly for pedestrians than ever.
