It's really amazing what LLMs and MCP have managed to accomplish in such short time. After all of these decades we've finally found a way to make computers vulnerable to social engineering.

Some of the best developers I've worked with came from schools you've never heard of or were self taught.

it would have been crazier if the name-brand effect continued, tbh. I went to UMaine, and the education I got there (modulo the hilarious operating systems class) was absolutely competitive with what I’ve seen come out of the big-name schools

I've been dreading going out to shovel all the snow, but one of our neighbors got a new snowblower and just walked down the street and back with it clearing the whole sidewalk. I love this neighborhood.

And I've been doing politics for long enough to know clearly that the entire Senate Democratic caucus agreed to this decision to fold. Open your eyes. The 8 who "broke" did so with the complete blessing of Schumer and their colleagues. You don't have to play along because this is not a game. The end

This was up for almost an hour on hacker news before the libertarian overlords took it down. It seems like no one wants to talk about or hear about what is happening in Chicago (besides a large number of independent journalists and community members in Chicago itself).

There are services which depend on us-east-1 even if everything else is in another region. DynamoDB global tables went down. IAM globally failed. Lots of people had no idea they were relying on the region because AWS doesn't exact make it clear how their "global" services work.

I live in Chicago, and it's becoming more and more of a military occupation every day.
Developing: per photographer Matthew Kaplan and others on scene, neighbors are currently facing dozens of Border Patrol agents on the east side. Feds have been all over the area, some kidnappings confirmed. Saw one gas canister deployed on FB live earlier.

The law is not a guide to ethics. Law often sanctions, even demands, unjust violence against others and oneself. Under fascism, it becomes unavoidably obvious to any honest actor that genuine ethics requires law-breaking in defense of one’s neighbors and of a fundamental right to difference.

Unfortunate update: Link reached out to BlueSky and got email back now on reason.

His appeal is denied. He will remain permanently banned on BlueSky’s side.

Every one of these thugs needs to be locked up.
“Fuck them kids.”

That’s literally what an ICE agent said when ICE, the FBI et al. raided an apartment in Chicago, including with a Blackhawk helicopter, separated children from their parents, and zip-tied them to each other.
