TLDR organize how you remember stuff for yourself if dates aren’t it then use another system c:

But usually I wait until I don’t need to use the files anymore to archive. And organizing them by project is much easier to find since I can typically remember if it was an animation/2d drawing/3d and go from there.

I don’t organize by date but by type of project. Medium > personal/comm/shop > Client name/subject matter > character/species/use case name.
If I’m archiving stuff I’ll archive it generally by year then month but that would be the topmost folders.

I filled it back up since there wasn’t a clear puncture so we will see tomorrow if it’s a real flat or not (hopefully not) 🥹 🤞
