Me after the 14th description of Rakkor worldbuilding being about harshness, anxiety over survival and struggles of living in a difficult environment:

Man, can't they enjoy a single field of wildflowers and beautiful nature...

I'm reminded of how the Roman army had troubles against the Germanic tribes in forests, but that's because the Roman army was specifically trained for open field combat where they could create a living wall.

Targon tribes are used to fighting on the mountainside, and Rakkor are trained for both

The Rakkor are focused on resources and maintaining their ability to defend their villages. The areas of their borders need to either be of strategic value or have fertile land. They can't just be pretty forests or fields of wildflowers...

She thus fits the well-known Paladin type where the character is gifted with magic by a higher power, rather than being born with it or stealing it in some way. Her paladin status is also a meta-reason why she wears plate armour!

The Rakkor society is organized the way it is in part due to the fact that their people are never born with magic nor can they learn it.

Leona's role in their society is greatly dependent on her being the ONLY Rakkor with the powers of their Sun god. And the fact that she was chosen by the Sun.

Since IoW is on northern hemisphere, it means Targon also needs to be north of the equator in order for solari side of the mountain (southern, since it's facing away from IoW) to be lit.

I first painted a test scene (it sucked.) Then I redrew it as sketch, it sucks less. Needs fixes, but oozes with potential and badassery, so something might even come out of this.
