Whenever I read a story about one of these hard-discipline schools, I shudder, thinking about the horrifying stories of abuse and trauma we’re going to hear in the future from kids who went through them.
Imagine having to sit in prison-like environs for two full days cus your boss didn’t like your hair.

The normalisation of this kind of stuff in our schooling system really should be understood as a national scandal

‘Plastic progressive.’ Starmer’s comms people are terrible. Like just actually bad, and don’t even understand what insults would stick.
The Prime Minister can call me names - “plastic progressive”? (Nope, me neither!)

Meanwhile, I’m travelling across England and Wales, meeting people fired up and ready for change.

We’re going to turn this country around – and no one gets left behind.

My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"?

Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...

Here’s the thing — is school about achieving the highest possible grades regardless of the methods, or is it about nurturing the whole child? One of the horrible things about edutwitter was how many teachers were happy to advocate cruelty so long as it helped schools hit targets.
This is adults bullying children. The whole organisation needs to be put under new management. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

Insisting boys must be strong is “gender ideology.”

Telling girls to be nurturing is “gender ideology.”

Assuming that kids ought to grow up to be heterosexual and get married is “gender ideology.”

This gender ideology is everywhere. It just goes unnoticed because society mandates it as “normal.”

Yes to all of this.
The failure to reckon with transphobia as a currently central motivation of the far right will continue to plague those disturbed by its rise for a decade or more

Rather than standing with trans people many liberals have pursued appeasement and helped the wider shift to the far right in the process

In 1884, he and other anarchists defied the state to treat a cholera outbreak in Naples—demonstrating a model for grassroots healthcare and mutual aid that remains relevant in the #COVID19 era:
