I used to make video game and tech content as a day job, from 2007 to 2020. Now I do QGIS stuff, Ignition SCADA things and water loss reduction shenanigans. I also write books that aren't very good. And I'm trying to make a game about a duck. Also, I run.
When you say you rush B, but you go to mid.

Hang in there. It gets better. After learning that the local McDonalds was paying higher wages for kitchen duty than I made from SCADA/GIS/NIS, I asked the CFO of the company for a raise. He said no one's stopping me from getting a second job.
You've got that to look forward to.

Absolutely, critical infrastructure should not be privatized. And while it would be nice to be able to talk to a head engineer at my company that's not a political nominee with no knowledge of the subject, since we're about 30K from a war zone, I fear a private entity would do worse at this time.

The upside to a privately held water company would be that critical leadership positions would no longer be rewards for party favorites.
The downside is you're no longer in control of your water supply.

Unless you have actual functioning regulations, which, if you did, you wouldn't have privatized.

Working for a national water company, I can firmly say that corruption will be a thing in either case. My company spends boatloads on infrastructure, but the contracts to build things go to party owned/adjacent companies that do below/the very minimum at costs way above the market value.

If it's still a leveraged buyout, it'll soon be owned by a dozen creditors.

I remember seeing my first 3D waterfall in a game, it was International Rally Championship, a game from 1997. I forget what stage/course it was on, but it blew my freeging mind.

Which is a long winded way of saying that if you enjoy writing a story, but the existing fanbase of the original is terrible, keep writing, but make it your own. If it's still enjoyable to you, then you're on the right track. You may even try to publish it... though the market is currently terrible.

Weird combo, I know. I turned those into their own things years later and written a original works since, but the idea never really escapes me. One of the books I'm working on right now is basically "what if Ultima was made today". It features nothing from the source except for its spirit.

The beauty of fan fiction is that, after some time, you get to the point where you've built the framework of your own stand-alone story that can exist without the supporting structure of the inspiring material. I started out with fan-fiction over 20 years ago, with Battletoads and Lord of the Rings

See, you would not have had to put this here if in this game with ray traced light, you could actually see where you're going.

I've got 2 HDDs for storage, 1 M2 for OS and a few games, 2 other SSDs for other usage and "frecatura" cache drive for editing stuff and temp files. But they are all 512GB SSDs. I need more

To be fair, back in 2019 when I got this PC, I spent more on 32GB of DDR4 3200 than on the motherboard. Not by a lot, but it was still a huge sum. And 2 years later the RAM dropped to a third of the price.
The MB doesn't handle 64GB of RAM on 4 populated slots on 3200 speeds, so, didn't upgrade.

So, if I do end up getting a job there, it'll be either funny when "the end of the world company" ends, or it will really be the end of the world. So, keep an eye out for asteroids, nukes or... actually, now that I think about it, we're already headed the way of the Dodo so maybe it's not my fault.
