I used to make video game and tech content as a day job, from 2007 to 2020. Now I do QGIS stuff, Ignition SCADA things and water loss reduction shenanigans. I also write books that aren't very good. And I'm trying to make a game about a duck. Also, I run.
I'll never get a more "what are you looking at?" look than I got from this owl today

See, you would not have had to put this here if in this game with ray traced light, you could actually see where you're going.

Playing Control AWE, there are yellow tarps everywhere now to show you where to go, but god forbid they use the Ray Tracing they keep going on and on about these days to make the light at the door in the pitch black room shine on the wall next to it si you can actually see it.

The bumpy ball at the center makes it resemble the old Sender Spikes from Anachronox even more.

Loved all the nods to it in Mass Effect, with stuff like "Vigil"... but ME2 just outright ripping off the final mission was a bit too on the nose.

I keep asking myself something for the last 20 years.

Is it really that cold in hell?

Or is that one of those ever burning flames that are everywhere and they didn't bother to put it out so they turned it into a fireplace?

I think I caught a satellite passing in front of the Moon today. Shot in a burst of 3, it was moving fast enough to cover that big a distance in under 1 second.

What movie have you seen an unhealthy number of times?

So, after a recent update, Windows no longer shows the folder you're in after finding something you've searched for. You have to click on the address bar to see the address. Why? Because someone there hates you and wants you to suffer, also, to make it less useful and drive you to the stupid chatbot

Ah, yes, the pizza from Squid Game. Who can forget that famous scene, with the pizza.

I hope that whoever came up with the idea of "branding" was shot at some point.

Remembering better times.
Frustrating times, but better.

Every time I close LibreOffice, the GeForce overlay pops up wanting to show me the highlights of my epic spreadsheeting.

The pop-up is disabled. I'm on the Studio drivers. There's no setting to have it record spreadsheets.

And yet.

I've got a giant book about a local necropolis where the remains of some Cucuteni culture people were found, among layers upon layers of others. We have so much detail about what they owned, what they wore. But we will never know their songs, their stories, their dreams. I wish we could.

I like Hitman and IO, but people, stop this. This is a singleplayer game. It was terrible when Ubisoft did it, it's terrible now.

This is not a placeholder, you can buy it for 660€. It's 50€ cheaper than a 9070. Roughly 250€ more than it should cost.

I hope there will be variants that cost around the 7700XT, which is about 430€. If not, this generation, that was supposed to be "for the masses" has been a gigantic failure.

I've been wondering why I loke working in #QGIS so much. Sure, I liked maps, but there's more to it, there's a flow there. And I couldn't put a finger on it. Then it dawned on me.

I've been preparing for this for decades.
