Someone told me once that regardless of degree completed, a "Physicist" is just one who studies physics. In that context, I like to think of myself a physicist moreso than any of my other professions or skills. Which are humorous in number at this point.

If anybody wonders what I shoot with:
Nikon: Zf, D800, F5
Leica: M7, M10, M10M, M6-Reissue
Let me be clear @markwarner.bsky.social and @kaine.senate.gov there is to be absolutely no funding for DHS period. I don’t care if the gov shuts down for a thousand years, or one of you personally has to elbow drop Schumer. You shut that shit down today.

Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.

"Please get the truth out about our son."

I can now add a 1972 nickel to the list of things I have found in my backyard using the Manticore. Which is also not one of the things I lost. I'm fairly certain that if the arrow were indeed back there, this thing would find it.

Bought a Minelab Manticore recently, been using it to try to find an arrow that I lost in the back yard. I've checked with the arrows I do have, it can detect them. So far I haven't found it, but I have found two nails, a bottle cap, the tops from two cans, and a pop tab.

If you don't want me "killing the vibe" maybe don't talk about how amazing Tesla and Elon Musk are?

Else I'ma take the vibe out back and tell it to look at the flowers kay?

To the people who ask why is everything political now?

Arguably it always was, but when some folks' right to simply exist, or your right to clean air and water are being threatened, yeah it's gonna boil to the surface every damn time. Especially when you make excuses for people in power.

Years ago I did the Boys’ State program in my home state. I didn’t run for office, I was a member of the press. Today, while my career took a different path, I still carry a camera everywhere. Keep recording and stay spicy as fuck my friends.

Dear @repsuhas.bsky.social , Kristie Noem is clearly waging war against the U.S. and using ICE as her personal army. This is the legal definition of treason. Nothing less than impeachment, prosecution, conviction, and execution of everyone involved is acceptable.

Adding that we strip the executive branch of its tie-breaker powers via the vice president.

If it's a 50/50 split, debate re-opens, and you do it again. I don't care if you work a 70 hour shift. (Sincerely someone who's done it and knows how much it sucks)

Yet another horrifying example of how machine learning is being heinously abused at the expense of people. One that I hadn't devoted much brain power to yet, fortunately Cat's here for that.

We didn't need ray tracing for half life to be fun.

We didn't need data-centers to power "AI" models for the imps in Doom to get one over on you.

We didn't need CUDA cores to leave the solar system.

I'm not saying technology is value-less, but its value is certainly not greater than the planet.

Remember when they degraded teachers by saying "Those who can, do. Those who can't? Teach."

Turnabout is fair play.

Those who can, do. Those who can't? Use AI.

If you are traumatized from a prior incident to the point of being unable to maintain bearing and perform your job, then the correct place for you is a desk while you figure your shit out. Not out armed on patrol. There is no excuse for the murder of Renee Good. None.

Idle thought, the U.S. gets Greenland if they agree to partner with (join) the EU, adhere to a universal currency, open borders, become a signatory to the ICC, rejoin the Paris climate agreement, and facilitate Ukraine's membership in NATO.

We retake the mid-terms, we strip the office of the presidency of its status as commander in chief.

There can be no unitary executive. No single power can be entrusted to the authority of one person.

Signal boosting for a friend
Right now we have light pollution, near-constant helicopters, and are legit afraid to go outside. Going #digitalnomad we can find somewhere quiet; wherever we decide to stop for a bit, we can breathe.

Help me show my kids the stars at night!

Where are you Congress?

Do your job or we will need a new Department just to hold you accountable.

You swore an oath. Don’t be a bunch of cowards. You know what overreach is.

You are going to be the death of our Constitution and are as much at fault at the felon-in-chief.

When we re-take in the midterms, partisan gerrymandering, or even calling to do a partisan redistricting, should carry a mandatory minimum sentence of death.

My reading streak has hit 701 days in a row. When it hits 731 I plan to put the kindle down for a bit and pick up a few of the physical books that I've halfway read. Figure I'll start back on on "Oak Flat" by Lauren Redniss. And I remind you of this humorous coincidence from 281 days ago...

Folks, I'm having a surge of activity this morning, I promise I'll pipe down again soon. It's important to state that it's not possible as individuals to track everything going on. From Epstein to Public Lands, working as a group, with people who specialize on certain topics, is going to be a must.

Hmm, one thing I don't like about trying to squeeze everything into 300 characters, is while conciseness and coherence have some very effective intersection points, optimum conciseness and optimum coherence rarely coincide at a single point, and writing a whole thread feels clunky.

I remind you that "narco-terrorism" is not a thing that even exists. It is a contradiction in terms, it is on its face false pretense.

There should be non-stop protests at the capitol building and white house. No silence, no rest, until Trump and his entire cabinet are removed.

To lighten the mood a bit, here's a photo from when I was home for the holidays of two of my dogs playing in my back yard.

The husky is Nyx, and as you can see the fluffening has begun. The foxhound is Radar, and he is a goober.

Allow me to connect some dots for you:

Too much of the world currently relies for its basic functions on resources which must be continuously extracted. You burn that oil one time and oops, now you need more.

Geopolitical horrors are, in fact, one of the reasons we need to move to renewables ASAP.

What a congressional statement should sound like.
Today's military action in Venezuela and the kidnapping of Maduro was illegal. What's the plan?
