clean first half of stage 4 from a savestate (in a real run i'd probably use a bomb on the stupid second half of the midboss but i got lucky)

watching ys 1 & 2 pce, something i noticed is that you can bump enemies head-on sometimes without taking damage. my recollection of the pc88 version was that you always take damage unless you're a half-tile off, but i was wrong! you can bump head-on, but you take damage when an enemy moves into you

they made this one wrong, you can actually dodge it

modern gamers have it too easy with their parries and dodge rolls (sorry for not including the sick music my recording settings were wrong)

like just watch the intros for dq1, dq2, and then dq3. really sells the idea you're about to play peak
