The Devolution & Community Empowerment bill with out community at it’s heart will just be more bureaucracy that makes decisions for the people instead of by the people
The Bill’s title rings somewhat hollow when it lacks critical new rights and powers for communities to reshape failing public services and influence local investment decisions.

The number of people (working people) accepting this as sensible or a good compromise is staggering.

And let’s not even mention the insignificant tutting from the unions

This is how we end up with little or no rights at all
UK govt ditches flagship policy from the workers’ rights bill.

Removes the right to protection from unfair dismissal from the first day of employment, introduces a six-month threshold.

Some of you may have noticed I’m not a big fan of the MSM or the Churnalists that work for it, but Independent Journalism is vital. So if you can support Declassified with a few pence, please do.

They’ve been refused access to the HoC because they actually report facts
We've raised over £3,000 towards our target of £25,000 from fewer than 100 donations - thank you!

Our goal for 2026 is to bring you more in-depth reporting and regular video exposés, your donation will help make that happen.

Oh well done. People have finally worked out what fiscal drag is, but let’s applaud lifting the 2-child cap and ignore every thing else that is making people poorer.

Richard puts it better than any of us could
Rachel Reeves says her budget delivers stability. The Office for Budget Responsibility's charts tell a very different story. High interest rates, low investment, falling profitability, rising unemployment and no improvement in household incomes.

Another economist looking at the spreadsheet numbers rather than the reality of 4.5 million children still in poverty. And the fact that the LHA freeze (and other budget items) will probably negate the extra money from the 2-child cap removal.
Scrapping the two-child limit in full is a monumental decision. Well done to all involved in the Child Poverty Strategy, and everyone who has made the case against the policy.

OBR says scrapping costs £3 billion in 2029-30 and will lift 450,000 out of poverty
November 26, 2025 at 7:26 PM
How easily they are persuaded🙄

470,000 children lifted out of poverty, but 1 million in poverty rather than absolute poverty and 4.1 million remain there. Frozen Housing benefits, welfare cuts and keeping the frozen tax threshold will mean more children are likely to fall in to poverty in future
Scrapping the two-child benefit cap in full will lift hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty over the course of this Parliament.

A major victory for all the families who have suffered hardship because of it and all those who campaigned for so long to end it.
November 26, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Oh ffs. What is the point of lifting the 2-child cap to alleviate poverty, when LHA benefit doesn’t cover the rent?
They kept the housing benefit freeze??? (Cuts)
November 26, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Yeah, 450,000, but we’re not going to bother with the other 4.5 million children.

We feel we’ve done enough to keep our MPs and supporters happy
450,000 children out of poverty.

That's the difference made by a Labour government.

Easy question Zack. Keep talking like it’s a household budget that has to balance or people might release they are being used as scapegoats by the government, so that corporations can keep making vast profits.

Business Growth Partnerships don’t come cheaply
The very first thing the Prime Minister does is use the household budget metaphor.

A metaphor - this report into BBC coverage - said could be "easily misleading."

Why is the government trying to mislead the country?

For everyone that says “but 14 years of the Tories” or anyone that has to listen to it👇🏻
When you see "14 years of x" line, it tells you you're dealing with someone who can't analyse politics without a party lens.

Britain's been governed by the same overarching philosophy since 1979, regardless of which party was in power. And without understanding that, you won't understand anything.
How should Labour tackle 14 years of mismanagement? I'd like to hear some realistic alternatives, considering the available resources in law professionals, university places and tutors and physical spaces. All I've read so far here is 'throw money at it' without considering the resource implications
