I can't be the only one out here who writes on a somewhat narrow topic (small commercial aviation) and feels a bit lost in the larger issues of the moment.

If a solar storm was powerful enough to knock out every satellite’s ability to maneuver, the Kessler Syndrome would be pretty low on society’s list of concerns.
A new "crash clock" says Earth orbit is three days from disaster.
If all satellite lost the ability to maneuver (eg in a solar storm), it says collisions would be imminent.
