Plants and Cats and Plants and Cats and
You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

Reeeealllly think this could go either way and is very dependent on who, specifically, we're talking about.

No teaching today, but since SOMEONE took a header while carrying a box of unsecured plant labels, I’m spending time in the office playing the world’s worst game of solitaire. 😁

How do YOU pronounce Megachile?

1) MEG-uh-KYE-lee

2) MEG-uh-CHILL-ee

3) SOMEthing ELSE

Anyone in far western KY (Murray area) in the market for absolutely adorable pups?

These girls and their brothers just graduated from my brother and SIL's house to another foster (bottle-feeding to better socialization conditions), and will be up for adoption in another month or so!

Okay, while looking through the 16th year for @rogue151.bsky.social, I realized that four of my all-time favorite albums came out on the same DAY: September 14th, 2004 was lovely day for music!

I couldn't pick one...

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

When your Eustachian tubes are terrible and it’s you, a 41 year-old, at urgent care for your annual ear infection with all the toddlers.

When your tyrosinase is out there with a wonky Exon 1 (probably).

Kyoshi: 6 months vs 4 years.

My folks are in town, and my dad brought me a large bucket of dehusked black walnuts.

If you ever have a chance to eat black walnuts, you should. They are absolutely superior, flavor-wise, to English walnuts.

Bring a hammer and a sturdy nail or nut pick.

The highlight of trick or treating tonight:

Young man, I’m guessing around 12, approaches with a gaggle of other kids.

“Hey, this is the house I was telling you about!”

Apparently our ghost cat decorations have made some neighborhood chatter. 😁

A happy Hallow to everyone’s Ween!

Ghost Cat and I are ready and waiting for the first of the evening’s candy foragers.

Was cleaning up old photos and ran across these from when Iroh was still pretty young. And kind of dumb.

No himbo cats were harmed in the making of these photos, and the charger was promptly moved afterward.

One of the sad sights from today’s No Kings in DC.

The Natural History Museum on a nice Saturday? Should be mobbed with people.

Some evenings, Kyoshi (the dark one) insists on SINGING THE SONG OF HIS PEOPLE so I’ll let him in the linen closet. And since Molly sleeps during the day and our tiny emotional manipulator knows that, he and his brother get closet time.

Missing a reagent today when my undergrads came in, so instead of the plan, I taught them how to do leaf peels to measure guard cells and also showed them how to use the EVOS fluorescence microscope.

And anyway, that's how my students learned that the annulus on fern spores is autofluorescent. 😁

I thwarted Kyoshi’s bid for greatness tonight (I moved the folded stack of towels before he could parkour off them onto the bookshelf).

He pouted like this for a good hour.
