I've thought for a while that God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen could do with a version inspired by the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane.

YouTube will for sure!
2) @pdxbroadsides.bsky.social is doing their concert on Friday at 10 PM Eastern / 7 PM Pacific! I assume YouTube and Twitch will both work. Watch it live or stream it later!

(YT is linked. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/pdxbroadsides )

This will probably overlap a bit with show #1. Hooray for replays!

A reminder, on this Bandcamp Friday, that I have three seasonal EPs, and not *everything* on them is pandemic-related.

The first one includes Pierpont's Nigun, allegedly a traditional Jewish song.

also, Spotify doesn't pay royalties at all for tracks with less than a thousand streams.

and sometimes if an album gets a sudden surge of fan interest, Spotify deems it "unusual listening activity" and just removes the album, as happened to my last EP.
Spotify has laid off thousands in recent years, while reportedly paying artists $0.003 per stream.

Spotify profits rose 28% in Q3. Its CEO is worth $9.8 billion. It's making money off ICE recruitment ads.

Don't you think it's time put a wrap on corporate greed and exploitation?

And it’s not even that much for most artists since they changed the minimum payout thresholds per song. Most small artists are basically donating tracks to Spotify in exchange for being on the platform at all.

there are two kinds of indie musicians: the kind with 25 boxes of shrink wrapped cd's in their garage, and the kind (like me) who finally sent 19 of them to Davy Jones last year because nobody owns CD players anymore, and it was getting depressing to store them

The next Bandcamp Friday is in December, but there's new stuff to check out today!

Here's Tristen's new album, "Unpopular Music."

(I admit I've only just started listening to this one, but her music has been popular with *me* since I randomly saw her perform at Le Poisson Rouge in 2010.)

Happy Halloween! 🎃
NEW HALLOWEEN SONG!

I started writing this circa 2016, but I couldn't release a song about being in the closet without outing myself. 😅

I've finally gotten enough distance to be able to finish it without interposing my current perspective.

Both versions of me hope you like it. 😊

FWIW, it's possible this course is making a point that holds up in context, I don't know, but speaking broadly I could not disagree more. 🧵
I'm finally catching up on stuff and there's this one course where they explain how it's good to be vague as a musician because that's what lets people project onto what you make, and I'm like... yes, but no. Sometimes people will project shitty things you don't want to be associated with.
