I do find it disappointing to learn when a person doesn't read science.

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Yesterday, I attended a workshop by Dr. Dario Ummarino, Senior Editor at
@commsbio.nature.com, on The Ins and Outs of Publishing in the Nature Portfolio 📝
It was fascinating to learn about the history of the Nature Portfolio and receive valuable tips on submitting to these journals as trainees 🧪

Finished To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee on Audible 📚🎧
Such a powerful, moving read on important issues from a unique perspective. My fave quote:
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."

Recently attended a @providenceresearch.bsky.social event featuring a @heartlunginnov.bsky.social panel of grant-writing experts! ✏️
From crafting a compelling narrative to managing rejection, their advice for trainees was incredibly insightful.
Looking forward to the next event!

Finished The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins 📚💙
I did watch the movie first, but this intrigued me more! It offered so many subtle clues about Snow’s personality and the reasoning behind his later choices as President of Panem.
Recommended for fans of THG series!

I see James Watson has died.

What did Watson discover?

Rosalind Franklin's lab notes.

Only we spell it 'S-T-E-A-L' these days.

Being a mentor during application season: reviewing one mentee’s application, sending it back… and immediately getting another one in my inbox! Truly a revolving door 🔃
Jokes aside, I’m so proud of both my mentees and wish them the best on their applications 🤞🏼

5 days into #AcWriMo and I'm actually feeling pretty okay with my effort! I've been working on an R&R so far. My goal is to complete it by the end of the week and move on to my next writing project! ✏️

I finished Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen on Apple Books 🌶️📚
Kate Beckinsale’s narration brought the story to life. It was full of romance and wit. I laughed, teared up, and felt completely swept away by it all. One of my favourite quotes is below.
I highly recommend it 💙

Finished "The Long Walk" by @stephenking.bsky.social writing as Richard Bachman from Audible 📚🎧
While it didn't totally grip me, the premise (a deadly endurance contest seen through a teenage boy's eyes) is fascinating.
Curious to see how the film brings it to life! 🎬
