Yes, the movie stays truer to the 1st book in that sense. Which showLouis also did in s2e5, dissing Lestat to Daniel in 1973. It's kinda funny what both adaptation changed... Anne Rice actually wrote the 94 movie script, with a totally different ending (Lestat turned Daniel).

It's not just you. Anne wrote Lestat from Louis the angry ex in the first book #iwtv. From the 2nd book which Lestat narrates 8 out of 13, he became the main. Got a lot of flaws but extremely likeable. So what you're feeling is what the show wants to portray, which is Lestat from whole chronicles 👍

Agreed. The showrunner, set designer, costume, directors and actors are nerdy Anne Rice fans. The episode titles and much of the dialogues are lifted from the first book. It's a gift to a long time book fan like me, but it also changes enough (timeline) that it keeps us guessing. Masterpiece.
