Synthetics issue 3 cover! Such an amazing series to play in. J Michael Straczynski, Carrie Strachan, and Steve Dutro are all wonderful to work with, and Dark Horse is amazing.

Issue 3 is available for preorder now, so talk to your friendly local comic shop!

I wondered the same thing when I saw the finished issue. Didn't even occur to me until then. But I haven't asked. There are some things Joe was not meant to know.

Four page preview of issue two of The Amazing Spider-Man: Torn, hitting stores this coming Wednesday.
I just put up a preview of next week's #2, and the breakfast scene at the start really ties in beautifully with those elements.

Great to see, thank you. Given those elements, I think issue 2 will come across even stronger.

That sounds about right. I ran into the earliest BBS systems probably around the same time as Captain Power was in production, so our long national nightmare began somewhere around 1987.
Wikipedia notes your B5-related online presence since "around 1991"; a footnote adds that your earliest fan-archived GEnie post "clearly references earlier discussions now lost to time"; also noted is that you "participated in many online forums since the 1980s."

Not really, all around...I was online long before B5 and I didn't see any reason to change that, along with wanting to create a living document on how a TV show was made. Didn't really think more broadly, despite the Warners execs who kept saying "Why the hell are you online, these people are mean."
It was an amazing book and I typically don’t read autobiographies. My only question was have you ever written somewhere else, about your experience communicating with the Babylon 5 fans on the message boards? Were you aware at the time, what you were doing, was going to get very big in the future?

Out of nowhere, a lovely new review of my autobiography, BECOMING SUPERMAN which came out a bit ago.

I just learned that the first issue of The Amazing Spider-Man: Torn debuted at #15 out of the top 200 in sales (just 6 spots behind the main ASM line) and at #14 in sales (just 3 spots behind ASM). And issue 2 is even better. Still time for new readers to jump on board.

Did not disappoint. Pretty cool future-tech thriller that's got a movie-like feel. Great job by the creative team and looking forward to the next one!

Synthetics is a slow build to sharp scifi with great dialogue from @straczynski.bsky.social. Earth is rapidly becoming uninhabitable & those still living try their best to survive. But those who knew it would be this way are working on something forbidden. There's some Evangelion-esque themes here.

This is some early concept art that artist Peter Ledger did for Babylon 5. Show creator J. Michael Straczynski used the art to shop the show around to potential buyers. It’s interesting to note that Delenn was originally going to be a “he”.

And lest one forget, in all the SYNTHETICS news, that the trade paperback containing my recent mini-even of one shots, collected under the MARVEL TALES banner, hits comic shops this Wednesday.

It's Captain Jaclyn's company, and her call.
Was this your decision, or theirs, or both? I'm kinda sad for the next generation of B5 fans who won't be able to get some of these amazing resources. (I'm still a bit grumpy about the things I missed because I couldn't afford them 15 years ago but that's another story...)

Final reminder: if you want any of the @Babylon5 books published by B5books.com this is your last chance before the company goes away in five days. You may also want to spread the word to any B5 fan groups that might not have already heard it so everyone has a chance.
PART ONE

Twenty years ago, publishing entrepreneur Jaclyn Easton came to me with a risky but innovative idea: b5books.com, a publishing entity built around one show, Babylon 5, its participants and fans. This wouldn’t be what was usually done, aftermarket making-of books --

No more so than Shirley Jackson owed a lot to JM Barrie for Peter Pan, or to the story of Narcissus.

Theme is not story. Story is story.

So basically: no.

Yes, happened at Blackpool.
@straczynski.bsky.social Hi, I just had a quick question. I wanted to see if I recall in my old age right. Back during B5 run, was there not a story of how a hotel accidentally threw out your babylon 5 story notes for season 5? Or am I miss remembering?
