Non-spoiler new comics reviews on Tuesdays!
It is still VERY possible for a shop to sell out of an issue of Absolute Batman or Wonder Woman. No one knows the sales ceiling on these unprecedented titles. Everyone is ordering numbers that are not normal over a year in & we all still need reprints of early issues. Preorders guarantee YOUR copy!
The first Absolute crossover continues in the pages of ABSOLUTE BATMAN #16!

Today is Final Order Cut-Off for this incredibly fun issue from me and @nickdragotta.bsky.social. That means it's your last chance to get your pre-orders in and guarantee yourself a copy. Don't miss out!!

This scene from the episode where Lex Luthor body swaps with the Flash is still, unironically, one of the greatest moments of DC universe.

Absolute Batman 15 is the origin of the character in that universe called Joker. But this character is unlike anything else we've seen. You worry for Batman if this is what he's on a collision course with. People who have bought NO previous issues will rush get this one & it'll be warranted.

Transformers 27 is a packed issue with multiple wow moments! @robertkirkman.bsky.social indeed knows his Transformers. If you're not caught up, treat yourself and make it a priority.

The End 2099 is continuing what began in Annihilation 2099 and Conquest 2099. You can navigate well enough not knowing that, but if you followed those lines, this is what happens next.

I got to read TMNT 13 by @geneluenyang.bsky.social ahead of purchase orders & was really into it. I'm no TMNT fan historically, but this one had the right blend of comics TMNT action I'd expect, plus a dash of cartoon vibe. The Williams art is like action figures come to life. Buy with confidence!

Our Soot Stained Heart is full of brilliant art and composition. Page after page of storytelling wows. Stipan Morian is on the map now. Pretty sure there's a Krazy Kat & Ignatz homage in there just because. This is one people will talk about, but will have a hard time finding. A real surprise!

There's more to do, but Ultimate Wolverine 12 handles its business. I worried it would be years of a Winter Soldier-ed Wolverine eliminating characters who escaped The Maker, but it very much wasn't that. The story moved forward fast. Because its Logan. If you skipped this series, look again.

Remembering Forrest J. Ackerman, who was 92 when he died OTD in 2008. A fan of sci-fi and horror like no other, his editorship of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND made generations of devotees feel part of an exclusive club. Rest well, Uncle Forry.

Hey y'all! I just sent out an email to retailers about this book, including the first few issues. If you are a retailer and didn't get one (and therefore are not on my list), let me know and I'll fix that!

Here's what Scott Snyder (Iron Man Noir, The Human Torch Comics # 1) had to say!

I feel like Captain Atom had gotten a bad rap from moment one in the DCU. He could have been their Steve Rogers man slightly out of time, but he's kind of not cool. Ready to be not cool. DC KO Superman vs Captain Atom is a study on the character's history, mannerisms, & powers if you're curious.

G.I. Joe 15 was wild. Going by the cartoon, I forget how dangerous and unpredictable the Dreadnoks are. Loved the artistic choices for Cobra Commander with the mask off. The ambiguity made whatever is going on there worse. GI Joe IS part of your balanced Energon Universe diet!

Its getting difficult to tell what is a one shot, a mini series, a ten or twelve parter. I'm a retailer, so I can only imagine what customers make of things. Either way, ongoing series are less common at Marvel. Some people want mini series, some want ongoings, everyone wants to know what's what.

JSA 14 is part two of the Year One storyline which is kind of welcome considering the various changes the DCU has gone through. Interesting to new and experienced readers alike as Green Lantern & Spectre meet for the first time. And the Spectre's activities don't go unnoticed.

Amazing X-men's conclusion sets up Revelation's plan for Earth which present day Cyclops & his X-men cannot let happen. Plus, Cyclops and current X-men readers get surprising information about Magneto. This & Book of Revelation seem to be the core story if you're curious to see what's what now!

The new Doctor Strange 1 was more fun than I expected. It picks up where the previous Doctor Strange of Asgard left off, but you don't have to know more than what this issue tells you. Seems to be another goal oriented volume, but it does introduce an interesting new villain. Plus Angela is back!
