Let’s talk about sedition and treason, because the most powerful yet inadequate man in the world is having a tantrum about it, and his soulless, spineless sycophants are boosting his message.

The President of the United States is publicly calling for the political prosecution of his political opponents, urging the death penalty because they urged soldiers to uphold the rule of law.

This should be front page news everywhere. It is not, which tells much about how we got to this point.

"You don't have to embarrass our guest"... for ordering the murder of a journalist on foreign soil.

Contrast with the treatment of democratically elected leaders from around the world.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Yes. It has been a strategic mistake for Canada to act as if an agreement is possible if only we do the right things. It is not; all we can do is insist on our sovereignty and dignity, and find ways to build insulation and alternatives.
Colleagues and I have been promoting the need for a Royal Commission on the future of Canada’s economy for the better part of a year. That many are only now starting to realize that the US *really* isn’t interested in economic cooperation highlights the need for this vital national conversation.

Nuclear execs: we need a way to make people trust nuclear energy again. The climate crisis is an opportunity. But how to use it?

AI execs: this magic black box will help! You'll need to build twice as many power plants, though.

Government regulators: In. I mean, what could go wrong?
NEW: Tech companies are betting big on nuclear energy to meet AIs massive power demands and they're using that AI to speed up the construction of new nuclear power plants.

And despite expert concerns about potential disaster, the US government is on board.

Wikipedia plagiarism + the crazy fringe = Grokipedia
The pilfering, however, is selective. On articles in Wikipedia's "controversial topics" bucket, the differences are far greater.

And that's where Grokipedia disproportionately adds low-quality sources, including Stormfront and InfoWars.

TL; DR: Vancouver is creating long term problems with a short-sighted turn to austerity. Cutting valuable long-standing programs like sustainability and support for social housing will cost the city more in the long run.
