Anti-immigration hatred is being fuelled *again* by rhetoric & intended action by the UK government. It's drawing on an old fascist strategy, but there are ways to say "no".

Episode 46: Sapiens

"It would mean more people could benefit from those frequent Central Line services. It is exactly what I hoped this Labour government might do.

"And I almost missed it, because they instead won’t shut up about being horrible to foreigners."

The British government just did something I agree with, and it feels almost gross to mention it. Also: who invented the week? And some Beeching-themed maps.

writing is a strange beast. You can be happily in flow and the words are coming easily enough but at the same time you can be entirely convinced that what you're writing isn't any good - even when people who know what they're talking about disagree with that assessment. Sigh. Why are brains?

I cannot recommend @stewarthotston.com's Project Hanuman enough - it's excellent - touches of Iain M Banks and @aptshadow.bsky.social, a fascinating culture and cracking story. Proper space-opera with a heart and intelligence. And fun easter-eggs to find!!
