That's an absolutely mental thing to claim in a budget speech. Does she think that sounds good? Why would she think that sounds good??

It's the best thing you can do for yourself though. I run and stuff but nothing makes me feel less old than getting to the gym and lifting heavy. Not 'maxing the gains' shit, but just a full body workout, 5 differnt exercises hitting all the main muscles, twice a week. Takes about 45mins a time

If you have the space and money to get a full squat rack, space to deadlift, benches, and a variety of of dumb and kettle bells, then go for it. Otherwise join a gym.

I paid for 10 lessons with a trainer at my gym and asked to be tought all the main exercises and that's been me sorted ever since

Scottish press is fkd. Industry wide issues attracting younger paying customers but in scotland they seem to have given up speaking to anyone under 40 entirely. "Subscribe to the herald and read our star columnist, Kevin McKenna, explain how he hates you, your friends, and everything you hold dear"
November 22, 2025 at 10:55 AM
Actually i think that should have been approved. People act like they want to build rollercoasters spanning from hill to hill or something when it's just a centre parcs-esque holiday park on some old industrial land in Balloch

you typed that while i was typing my other reply re:scotgov appeals. The system does kinda protect against the worst NIMBY-pandering instincts of councillors
November 20, 2025 at 12:09 PM
And there's always the fallback that if the councillors cave to NIMBY pressure and reject a perfectly fine proposal, you can just appeal to ScotGov and some planning professional there will review it. Waste of time and money when that happens, but at least you know you have it if you need it
November 20, 2025 at 12:07 PM
On one hand the absolutely mental amount of opposition and objections to building flats on a derelict polis station, a supermarket car park, and various ex car showrooms, kinda showed how the system encourages NIMBY complaints. On the other hand, every one of those proposals was granted permission

im afraid its the bus for you

"It said passengers with ScotRail tickets can use them at no extra cost on any alternative route to their destination, or on McGills buses."

and its not just a glasgow thing - i saw the boss of one of the big UK-wide pub chains saying their busiest time of the week was 4-6 on a saturday now, rather that say 9pm on a friday or saturday night

The changes to socialising are pretty interesting. Spend on food and drink in town is actually up but a lot of it has moved earlier in the day. People have embraced the joys of day drinking and then they're away up the road at a sensible time

There is one building on the non-pedestrianised part of the street that is covered in scaffolding but that is because GCC are helping the owners to fund repairs and maintenance to a listed building. Not really a negative
November 17, 2025 at 4:00 PM
It's not even a building site anymore. The public realm works have all finished. No idea what the old clown is even talking about.

And he says he drove so he wouldn't even as got as far as the redevelopment of M&S

Lost track of what is actually under construction. There are mutliple cranes. There's the student build next to the expressway and another actually on the broomielaw i think. And not sure if there is anything else

wish id said decended rather than evolved but you get the idea
