So like I am a horror fan but not a gorehound; I find torture porn uninteresting and don’t watch it. And I actively avoid real gore. But I saw the Divinity trailer and was like “Yes that seems appropriately gory for the subject matter” and it didn’t shock me in the slightest. Whatever.

In practice everything is necessarily always negotiable and always up for renegotiation at any time, but God damn do I wish a lot of it weren’t.

Very funny that Voltann grudge tokens are evolving into the perfectly fine mechanic markerlight, while markerlight is evolving out of being markerlight because markerlight is an outdated mechanic that needs to be replaced.

I can comfortably make assertions like “If they ever do a third season of Haruhi, one of the episodes — but, crucially, only one — should randomly be another Endless Eight” because I know they’ll never do a third season of Haruhi.

Chairon being officially dead in the lore feels like such an obvious setup to have him show up halfway through Space Marine 3 miraculously alive to save Titus's ass so the entire playerbase stands up and cheers and points, and then he gets a mini.

Like, when Baudrillard describes a process wherein we lose access to the Real entirely and get trapped in an infinite discursive hall of mirrors, that's supposed to be understood to be bad! You're not supposed to do it on purpose!!

There are two types of fantasy enjoyers, snobs and perverts. A snob insists that fantasy fiction can only be of real literary and human value if the fantastic elements can be reduced entirely to metaphor and the story still hangs together if you can remove them entirely. Snobs want to feel superior.
