It is happening. 50% of new sales are hybrid and/or EV already. Absolutely it should be a discounted tax but there is no replacing billions from fuel duty without it. (Tax the fuel companies too yes) The best time to do this was 2-3 years ago. The 2nd best is now. Labour will get blamed anyway.

No. They have no choice. The electric car transition is happening anyway and EV owners need to pay fair share of the costs of the roads they use. Because at the moment they don’t.
