This bodes well for the most strategic elections in 2026: down ballot state legislative races where we can flip chambers to win Democratic trifectas to act as THE firewall to Tr*mp/MAGA’s attacks on our neighbors, our elections and our freedoms!!! #ElectionsMatter #ItStartswithStates
A new Fox news poll shows Dems hitting highest support on the generic ballot in survey’s history, winning 52% vs 46% for Repubs. It’s the highest percentage for EITHER party; the prior record was 50% in October 2017—also for Dems (before 2018’s big blue wave midterm) h/t @gelliottmorris.com
Democrats hit historic high in Fox News Poll as GOP loses ground on key issues
Plus: Trump's approval among independents falls to a record low, and the issue landscape shifts ahead of 2026. Your weekly political data roundup for February 1, 2026.

MY LATEST: It is one thing to seize old ballots; it is quite another to imagine federal agents seizing ballots from county offices on election night or the day after. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/dojs...
DOJ’s legal machinery to subvert the 2026 election is already in place

👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

This, THIS is why #ElectionsMatter, and #ItStartswithStates! Now more than ever, states are the critical firewall against Tr*mp/MAGA's fascist efforts to take away our rights and freedoms, chief among them the freedoms to speak out and be safe in our homes, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods!

🏥 I introduced a budget amendment for the health of Virginia families. While the White House creates policies that leave people without coverage and drive up everyone’s medical costs, we have a choice in Virginia.

Media Literacy is constantly on my mind. How it's an ever shifting goal and SO many countries are better than US at it. Feds are useless but we could do what Finns do in state govts. For adults. 9mo til Midterms.

The Trump administration is suing California because we won’t allow oil drilling near schools, homes, daycares, parks, and hospitals. Trump doesn’t care if it makes us sick as long as it makes his billionaire buddies rich. See you in court.

20.8M more Americans now live in states where Dems have the power to build a firewall against Tr*mp's fascist federal overreach! VA elected 17 Dems for blue trifecta; MN held Senate & House blue; MS flipped 3 seats to break Repub Senate supermajority; and IA flipped a Senate seat to do the same!

We LOVE data too! Thanks for ALL you do @pwcdanica.bsky.social.
Also: I was annoyed provisional ballots weren't reallocated back to precincts like early in-person early ballots and mail-in absentee ballots (regular and PE), so we passed my bill SB 1044 this year to do that.
So now you can see provisional vote totals by precinct.

Fun story from 2017. When I first met @pwcdanica.bsky.social it was at an event when I was barely 18. I showed her my predictions for the House of Delegates which had her in a Likely D/Solid D race. She disagreed and said she was in a Toss-Up.

She won by 8.
