it's striking how the murder of the United Healthcare CEO is being covered compared to the several women who were killed due to anti-abortion laws and the people who were maimed and killed in factories, including kids: www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

The great thing about fake claims of rising theft is that it's less likely to get you fired vs. admitting you tried to sell things people don't want and chose locations where people dont want to shop.

Continuing the binge of @badlawyerpod.bsky.social. Today it had me Googling "bitch eating crackers". Apparently nobody got that worked up over the hate for Neal Katyal? He's a reliable provider of anti-Trump fanservice on MSNBC, but seems like nobody loves him enough to rush to his defense.

This thread contains a nonexclusive list of phrases that you do not ever want to see a court direct at you:

1: "Defendants' arguments...invoke the time-loop in the film 'Groundhog Day.'"

2: "Defendants' contention...is pure sophistry."

My ongoing binge of @badlawyerpod.bsky.social kicked up a bunch of memories from law school with the episode on l'affaire Washingtonienne. Listen with a browser open to unblind "Larry Lawyer" and look up the court filings. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/p...

The “we must save the Senate from John Fetterman’s pajama clothes” thing is the perfect story for rage click cycles, because only the world’s most insufferable dorks care about it, but those people also occupy a startling proportion of editorial board writer jobs

I concur.
The Murderbot Diaries are SO GOOD and as your attorney I advise you to read them immediately.

And the first six books are FREE if you have Kindle Unlimited.

Oh and I totally ❤️Murderbot itself. They're amazing.

Why are you still here? Get reading!

I do this too, but still watch. Even more so with YouTube police interaction videos, even when they're deliberately setting out to bait the cops. I've seen enough of those to know that while the TV shows may be unrealistic, it's not on that point.
I’m just a girl, sitting in front of a TV, yelling at every character who speaks to the police without a lawyer

Just listened to my first episode of the "Lawyers Behaving Badly" podcast. @badlawyerpod.bsky.social So awesome.

These folks are just terrified and incensed that so many young people aren’t bigoted assholes like them and aren’t scared of the same people they are. Talking to high school kids and seeing how many of them are chill about these issues is one of the few redeeming qualities of current American life.

We all know that the GOP always accuses the Democrats of whatever it is they are guilty of. Take the Biden impeachment inquiry. The real corruption we should be investigating is by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Donald Trump, whose private fund received $2 billion from the Saudis.

Just listened to this yesterday - had no idea Buckley was ever such a zealot, he really did a good job of building a smooth facade by the time I ever became aware of him.

Good thread on link taxes. Even if you're pissed off that local news has been eviscerated and hate big social media, link taxes fundamentally break the model of the web and do more damage than good. Lots of other ways to subsidise and protect local news & rein in big social media.
It literally breaks the most fundamental concept of the open web, that you can link to anything without needing permission or payment. And once you open that up, bad things happen.

It's fine to hate on Google/FB. But then go after them with antitrust or other laws. This is fundamentally dangerous.
