In my 30s with a corporate job, "white picket fence" house, 2 kids, a partner, and a dog. Realizing while I rearrange my schedule of meetings and school pickups for the day while the world crumbles around me that I in fact have wasted my time and become a casualty of society.

The American citizen in me wants to take to the streets in protest.
The mother in me knows that if something happens to me, my young child with special needs will lose his primary caregiver and will never recover. Just the thought fills me with terror, dread, and guilt.
I don't know what to do.

Now that I have a kindergartener, I'm starting to understand why parents do those seemingly pointless half day camps during summer and school breaks. This kid has morphed into a chaos demon hellbent on destroying the house.
