Is there an alternative World Series audio feed where I can turn off the commentary and turn up the organ music?

I just had a guest lecture on the history of fusion, and it occurred to me that it’s kind of wild that we’ve only known for 100 years what the stars are made of and the process that powers them thanks to trailblazers like Claudia Payne-Gaposchkin.
Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin ✨ figured out what stars are made of ✨ when she was just 25. 🔭🧪

Her PhD thesis basically established the Harvard astro department — at a time when Harvard didn't officially allow woman students.

I wrote this little profile to mark the 100th anniversary of her thesis:

I am in the process of getting a heat pump through the IRA HEAR program and can attest it would be a huge time (and probably money) saver if you can virtually estimate a home’s heating/cooling load instead of sending folks out for a calculation. Could be equivalent to Google Sunroof for solar.
🤯 This heat pump startup says its vertically integrated approach can, in some cases, make the climate-friendly appliance cheaper to install than a fossil-gas furnace. That would be a mind-blowing development in HVAC.

My latest for @canarymedia.com: www.canarymedia.com/articles/hea...
This startup says it can halve the cost of a heat pump — here’s how
The Vancouver-based Jetson has a simple cost-cutting formula: lots of tech, no middlemen. Today, it’s launching its own heat pump product.

Being in both the climate and academic spheres, I can’t start my emails to colleagues with the standard “Hope you are doing well” when clearly that is not the case right now 😭

I would open a museum that would be physical representations of Mitch Hedberg jokes. Like it would have a vending machine that dispenses vending machines, a forklift lifting a crate of forks, an escalator that is temporarily stairs, a Chair Lunch Dinner next to the Bed & Breakfast, etc.
if u could open your own museum what would it be about what are u going to devote your life to curate
what is the most unique museum u have visited
for me possibly the ramen museum

If you want to inspire the next generation of renewable energy leaders, please consider donating or asking your organization to sponsor the 2025 World KidWind Challenge. They face a $25K shortfall for this year. #energysky

Until about a week ago, I wasn’t even sure that the 2025 World KidWind Challenge would happen. While we are still $25,000 short of covering our costs, we’ve made the decision that it’s critical to com...

Happy “Find Out” day, everybody! Or maybe it’s more like the start of “Find Out” season?

So, EJScreen was scrubbed today from the EPA website. And I found out right in the middle of a class I was teaching today about free online tools for energy and environmental policy. 🧵 #energysky

I wonder how much energy academia has collectively wasted by always including a decaf option (that maybe 1-2 drink max) in a catering order with coffee. That’d be a good LCA homework assignment.

My daughter’s class made custom notepads for each parent, and mine drew a bunch of computers because I’m on my computer a lot for work. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be if it was made into a T-shirt and the computer screen said “Learn Respect.” #itysl

Never thought this would happen, but two of my favorite subjects (climate change and ITYSL) are together at last. grist.org/culture/tim-...
Talking about climate change can be awkward. Just ask Tim Robinson.
Does cringe comedy have anything to teach climate scientists?

I didn’t appreciate until this talk that using high temp. solid oxide electrolysis instead of PEM is more efficient, needs less electricity, and doesn’t need rare materials for catalysts like Pt. Just need a cheap source of heat (CSP, industrial waste heat, etc.) energy.wisc.edu/events/high-...

Well, I don’t have any posts on here yet, and I don’t have a ton of original ideas to share (that are interesting, anyway), so I thought I’d use this platform to share quick insights gained from the events and guest speakers that I host on a regular basis.
