Music, drummer, films, comics. Once had a heated argument with Eric Bristow.
A big thank you to @petepaphides.bsky.social for a beautiful and happy night at the Sensitive album launch party. Couldn’t stop smiling - hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Now playing! We Have Come For Your Children. NME released this as a cassette in ‘86 with a limited vinyl run of 500 for promo. A compilation in the Nuggets vein, making quite the impact on impressionable 16 year olds in small towns everywhere

New purchase! Iechyd Da by Bill Ryder-Jones. Highly recommended for people who might like music. Hints of Street Hassle, Baby Blue and a choir of kids singing quite sad songs in an uplifting manner

Don’t forget the two g’s in Gregg Wallace’s name if commenting on his misconduct investigation.

Had a dream last night where Wee Boaby Gillespie was part of our gang but was a pain in the arse. We had to catch a train but he was late even though he lived next to the station and we’d called on him.

Ringo’s favourite song is Gertcha by Chas & Dave, with I Know Him So Well a close second

Shel Talmy has passed away, one of the greatest there ever was. This compilation from Ace Records is a great overview of his impact on 60’s British pop

New purchase! Kippington Lodge compilation EP from 1978.

I first heard Shy Boy on a tape somebody did for me around 1990 - I’ve always loved songs that tell a little story, often slight and silly vignettes, and this is a perfect example.

My neighbour is an actor. Not a big deal but it’s an unusual feeling to be chatting to him about the bins, then a few minutes later watch a trailer for a TV show and see him dressed as a policemen saying ‘forget about the case, detective’

Ferry last night from Rosslare to Pembroke which the captain described as ‘a bit choppy with some high swells’.

It was like the blueberry pie eating contest in Stand By Me crossed with the Poseidon Adventure

Bring Ancient Egypt back to life by placing a sock on Ringo’s head

In a meeting at work earlier and someone said ‘Dirk needs to be here, we should call Dirk’ so I shouted ‘Dirk!’ Nobody laughed.

Playing this Factory compilation with one of my favourite tracks - Try A Little Sunshine. Checked out the writing credits and it’s our friend John Pantry again!

We tried to make Ringo a ghost outfit but inadvertently made him Grand Inquisitor instead. He shan’t be going out

Sat down to eat a sandwich and a man I don’t know approached me and said ‘looking for a bit of peace and quiet to eat your lunch?’ and ten minutes later I still don’t know what I was expected to do with that

Yesterday’s Papers is a brilliant YTube channel with each episode usually covering single releases in the 60’s. Almost every single covered finishes with the doleful ‘sadly the single failed to chart’

Today is April ‘66 with The Pretty Things, Artwoods, Riot Squad and more

Now playing - Alan Bown! US version of this ‘68 release, the LP mixes Toytown Pop whimsy with R&B soul revue. Includes All Along The Watchtower, which influenced the Hendrix version, and Love Is A Beautiful Thing, psychedelic soul at its best. Les from Creme Brûlée appears to be a band member
