Music, drummer, films, comics. Once had a heated argument with Eric Bristow.
This enthusiastic embellishment of the inner sleeve to my second hand copy of the Ramones debut LP always makes me smile

‘That don’t cut no ice with THIS reply guy. We have ways and means of stopping this kind of performance’

Now playing! We Have Come For Your Children. NME released this as a cassette in ‘86 with a limited vinyl run of 500 for promo. A compilation in the Nuggets vein, making quite the impact on impressionable 16 year olds in small towns everywhere

New purchase! Iechyd Da by Bill Ryder-Jones. Highly recommended for people who might like music. Hints of Street Hassle, Baby Blue and a choir of kids singing quite sad songs in an uplifting manner

Ringo’s favourite song is Gertcha by Chas & Dave, with I Know Him So Well a close second

Latest purchase! Flight From Ashiya from Kaleidoscope and semi-affordable too. Nobody knows where we are

Shel Talmy has passed away, one of the greatest there ever was. This compilation from Ace Records is a great overview of his impact on 60’s British pop

New purchase! Kippington Lodge compilation EP from 1978.

I first heard Shy Boy on a tape somebody did for me around 1990 - I’ve always loved songs that tell a little story, often slight and silly vignettes, and this is a perfect example.

Playing this Factory compilation with one of my favourite tracks - Try A Little Sunshine. Checked out the writing credits and it’s our friend John Pantry again!

We tried to make Ringo a ghost outfit but inadvertently made him Grand Inquisitor instead. He shan’t be going out

Showaddywaddy always had a bit of a ‘don’t go round the back alley of the working man’s club after the meat raffle’ vibe

Now playing - Alan Bown! US version of this ‘68 release, the LP mixes Toytown Pop whimsy with R&B soul revue. Includes All Along The Watchtower, which influenced the Hendrix version, and Love Is A Beautiful Thing, psychedelic soul at its best. Les from Creme Brûlée appears to be a band member

New purchase - and only £2! Two ‘84 singles compiled on 12” in ‘86 from the Pink label. Taped it off a friend back in ‘86, turns out it’s not as lo-fi as a 37 year old tape made it sound. Love, love, love In The Rain

Now playing - Gary Walker & The Rain. Not too many drummer fronted bands, especially one who has been in The Standells and The Walker Brothers. The View and Francis are top pop picks

New (old) lampshade! Don’t know what it’s depicting but there’s a lot going on…

Mrs D took a pic of this charity shop special. Turns out John P was engineer on early Small Faces / Bee Gees records; wrote songs for The Factory; and was in Peter & The Wolves and Sounds Around. Then went full Christian - this LP includes He Will Be Your Reward and Fellowship of Sinners

Ringo has reached the ‘being chauffeured around in his own buggy’ stage of life and he could not be more delighted.

New purchase! From the ever dependable Grapefruit label, WCPAEB box set including Part One to Vol 3 with an extra disc of alternative versions. Good liner notes, addressing the unsavoury elements but also that Michael Lloyd was responsible for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
