1998(?) - started studying Japanese at evening classes
2007 - passed N2 during final year of Uni (BA in Japanese)
2008 - moved to Japan for in-house translation job (Volks Inc)
been working professionally ever since. I have zero interest in getting N1 - it's not useful to me.

I love getting packages in the mail from friends who know me too well. 💗 I haven't had Melty Kiss in *years*, but it was always my fave winter chocolate when I lived in Japan, and it's just as divine as I remembered! Gonna savour each individual one so they last as long as possible! 🥰

I think it’s pretty clear at this point that one of the main impacts of LLMs is to disrupt thinking: to make it so that far too many people never properly learn how to do it, and then to control the output so there are thoughts that people never learn how to think.

I don't know which of my kouhais need to hear this, but because I'm seeing this in a ton of commercial J>E game locs: you really shouldn't retain quotation marks in the same places as the Japanese source text 9 times of 10, especially outside dialogue. Punctuation parity in general is often sloppy.
