i managed to correctly score as "scissors", and that wasn't even one of the options!

i'd hugely rather have ZM than the alternatives!

but i wish most of all for some basic honesty. i don't see much of what's said about him from the left passing the cabral test:

"Tell no lies. Expose lies whenever they are told. Mask no difficulties, mistakes, failures. Claim no easy victories"

and, importantly, the response to them show quite clearly what we can expect from the "progressive" 501Cs that backed him, saying "he's one of us, so we can influence him". which is absolutely nothing, just like it was with the last dude they puffed up as a savior – big bill (that man of goodwill).

Among its many evils, the "suits" reign over queer and trans communities has proven a disastrous failure on every front besides securing their personal power. Things for vast majority of us got worse, not better.

And they will always want to reign.

Instead of "boots and suits" what history shows is that otg queer and trans folks are perfectly capable of organizing ourselves. That the most gets done, by far, when we also take the fight to the gentry within our own demographics, who would happily ditch us to secure their own positions.

We see this now at the federal level, where the priority of the first trans House rep (a Gay Inc alum, naturally) is telling more radical working class trans folks to shut up while providing fodder for anti-trans policy documents:

The dynamic solidified after the equal marriage fight, as Gay Inc grabbex power and funding, using the momentum not for further liberation but to establish a hierarchy of a handful of well-off professionals giving orders and shutting down more radical organizing as a path into the status quo...

In a pattern that will become familiar any actual action on the "suits" part came only after their attempts to gatekeep and shut down radical organizing failed. These were elites conceding out of fear, not sunny collaboration, because at heart liberation and assimilation are not the same goals...
