Reality: the “jeans” thing was largely overblown and mostly a smokescreen designed to trick weak, overly-online minds with poor critical thinking skills into thinking progressives were angry

“Polls show that people are mostly angry with Republicans. And the election on Tuesday is proof of that! They blame Republicans.”
“Yes but what if some day they might blame us, and we pissed off our rich donors for nothing?”

I always thought healthcare by itself was not enough. But it has one benefit: simplicity. “You’re going to spend thousands of dollars you may not have or you’re going to lose coverage. Because of Republicans.”
Boom, easy. Now it’s “well they weren’t going to cave…and airports…and secret procedure…”

“Significant numbers of people cannot have the same quality of life, including the things that make life worth living, working the same amount of hours as older generations” is a perfectly understandable definition of “affordability crisis” and not grasping that is either intentional or embarrassing

If people can’t afford today what they were able to, say, 60 years ago, working the same number of hours at a comparable job, then it’s factually different
So, why were 40% of boomers home owners by the time they were 27 while no other demographic had more than 20%. Are they *gasp* less affordable?

It’s already a GOP shutdown according to actual, polled public opinion. Making it a GOP *House* one accomplishes nothing of worth.

Like, imagine if a minimum wage job made you $23,000 a year. And if a state college would run you under $2,000 a year. That’s the reality that baby boomers grew up in.
Alongside college, which unlocks access to many higher-paying jobs, housing is a critical path to stability and long-term wealth:

The average baby boomers truly had twice the net worth in their 30s than the average millennial, which is greater than the gap between boomers and Gen X. Boomers had the highest minimum wage (adjusting for inflation) and a college tuition that was less than one fifth that of today
It ain’t the same

I’m not saying that there were unlimited jobs to become millionaires waiting for baby boomers. But the average baby boomer could work a minimum-wage job for 8 hours a day, and expect to pay less than a tenth of their entire annual salary and get a college degree with $20,000 left over.

The minimum wage was highest (adjusted for inflation) when baby boomers were entering the workforce. A person working a single minimum wage job now earns $15,000 per year. Inflation-adjusted, it used to be around $23,000.
If college were priced the same as it was then, it’d be $2,000-$8,000 a year.

For reference, Gen X had $80,000, which means that the wealth gap as Boomers got older has grown WORSE, not better.
If you want to compare it to older generations, in their 50s, the Silent Generation averaged $495,000 of inflation-adjusted wealth. Baby Boomers had $704,000. Gen-X had $396,000.
