Agree with this entirely. The longer this attack on the rule of law and our system of government continues, the the wider the spectrum of vile behavior of this administration, repugnant to our basic values as a people, the more clear it is that the fault lies in all of us. We have to solve it
Yes, but it’s not a “nuclear option.” It’s the most basic, obvious, conventional option available if you want to actually do something effective. The fact that they’re not immediately promising it en masse tells us something, and that something is not good.

High school US History teachers should consider putting this election alongside their "Revolution of 1800" lesson and choose between the two. You only have so much instructional time with your students, which of these elections is making a bigger impact on their lives?
This. This was the formative event of my generation & our entire politics in 🇺🇸. The structural break after which we were no longer a full democracy, when 5 Wizards In Robes decided they were a super-legislature & counting all the actual votes didn’t matter. The rest has been 25 years of commentary.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

Teachers who spent years trying to undo the poor work of peers who taught that ".org" was safe, now have to do the same with ".gov".
We’ve had people from the U.S. and abroad asking whether the information on the White House website is even accurate anymore. The site has become unreliable, filled with blatantly false and deliberately misleading content.

After talking with teachers about using an analogy of teaching someone to cook an omelet to show students the importance of clear organization and transitions to lead their readers step-by-step through their writing, I found out how AI could expand on this idea.

Wearing a little history today, a subtle nod to educators who resisted tyranny - and a learning opportunity for students who ask about it. They won't get an answer of course, but they will get an invitation to look it up for themselves. Cultivating curiosity is more effective than demanding it.

Here's part of The Petition of Right in delivered to King Charles I in 1628, referencing Parliament's restriction of King Edward III's authority in 1340, laws and events familiar to the founders when they anchored our government on the rule of law. Close to 700 years of law are under attack today.

Came across these clauses from the Magna Carta while reading Richard Ovenden's "Burning the Books" - made we wonder if the Supreme Court has a copy. We're witnessing more than the destruction of a system of rights developed in 1789 - we're watching the ones from 1215 evaporate before our very eyes
