Itinerant skeptic, yet somehow hopeful for humanity.
Every citizen 18 and over, unless ineligible under a court-ordered conservatorship, should be able to vote with the utmost ease. Anything less is manipulation by the state.
Republicans are still trying to pass the SAVE Act—a bill that would make it harder to vote and disenfranchise millions of Americans. Join @redistrictingaction.org and tell your member of Congress to vote no: act.redistrictingaction.org/a/natl-saveact-cte

Americans have become more or less inured to Donald Trump’s incoherent ramblings. In Davos, Europeans were inclined to call the President’s behavior what it is: out of control. Read Susan B. Glasser’s column: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/2P-VmL

This is what happens when a government, backed by the wealth it has gained over the past three decades, invests in its research universities. We, on the other hand...

My ten-year-old self is so happy to have lived 50 years ago: "36% think parents should face CPS investigation for letting a 10-year-old play unsupervised at a park for three hours."

"reactionary Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff" is not a phrase I expected to appear in 2025, but it's been quite a year.

Abigail Jackson said in a statement: “President Trump has assembled the most talented and impressive administration in history..." huh.

Why is there still controversy over two consenting adults marrying? Any. Two. Consenting. Adults. This is not hard. This is common sense and common decency.

The only thing I like about the dark days of the approaching winter is the arrival of the season's stouts. Cheers!
Poured myself a Vocation Brewery Chocolate Stout 5.9% abv
It has a hint of chocolate and that’s sufficient as it doesn’t dominate the stout flavours.
Bought a bunch of similar at the local Morrisons. Pleasantly surprised at the selection of stouts tbh

100% idiotic garbage.
Lee Zeldin will also be investigating alien abduction incidents, the dangers of fairy dust pollution, and reports of marauding gangs of young male unicorns.

Isn't that a bit redundant? Chocolate is inherently sexual.

So instead of letting someone purchase things, work, and pay taxes, we'll spend gobs of money rounding them up, holding them and then sending them somewhere else. Sounds like a plan.
For folks asking if they've made it *inside* a Home Depot yet as the business has clearly just continued letting agents do whatever they want in their lots, the answer is yes. This is from yesterday in Evanston.

Ah, but they're still all over southern California, in every shade imaginable.
You hardly ever see these things in the wild any more.

Sometimes I think it's deliberate; sometimes I think it's ignorance. But at no time is this the way for a country's leader to act.

Going to school in the 60s and 70s, religious freedom never came up in class. Sometimes, as kids, we'd debate it during our free time. We didn't need permission; we didn't need "rights" handed down from the adults. All we needed was no pressure.

Since the 80s we've had a huge talent rush into finance, leaving us to import our engineers and physicians. Yeah, and that works until it doesn't.
America’s worst capitalistic instincts have many roots. But elite colleges—and their nudging of students toward big-money, high-status careers—is undeniably one of them.

"I want only the most ambulatory people with the luxury of the most flexible of schedules to vote [for me]." ftfy. Oh, and we'll use only one of the most manipulable of systems, the paper ballot.
Donald Trump is once again threatening to issue an executive order targeting voting. This is an effort to subvert the Constitution and the 2026 election, which grants states and Congress but not the president power to regulate federal elections.

If he does this, we will sue and we will win (again).
