yup - dwarves were not originally meant to be a trans allegory, but when his fans made them one for obvious reasons Terry thought it was rad and was, by all accounts, extremely supportive

Love that Terry continued Tolkein's joke about dwarfs having ambiguous gender, a load of trans people latched onto it and Terry decided to embrace it.
