People can have it for years and never know until symptoms get bad enough. Tbh I think it is probably something else though.

You can actually develop it as an adult! It's called LADA and it is often much, much slower to develop. It's often referred to as type 1.5

That's crazy! I wonder if it's because they're both autoimmune diseases? I would have never guessed.
