“It was an unforgettable moment“, said photographer Julien Looten when he saw the Carina Nebula with his own eyes — the big pink spot.

Paranal’s location in the southern hemisphere & Chile's uniquely #DarkSkies made this possible https://www.eso.org/public/images/potw2542a/

It’s Supermoon Season! 🌕

The first of 3 supermoons of 2025 - the full Harvest Moon - will appear tonight, rising at 6:20 pm BST. 🔭

It will be the largest and brightest full Moon this year.

If you miss this one, don't worry - two more supermoons are coming in November and December. 🌕

I captured the newly discovered comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon. It was first observed earlier this year by Mount Lemmon Observatory in Arizona.

With Earth crossing Saturn's ring plane, we're being treated to some lovely moon and shadow transits. Titan is currently casting its shadow on the disk every 18 days. With gear too long unused, I managed to catch last night's transit. Color is in Vis light, Gray in IR. 🔭 🧪 #astrophotography

This new JWST image is one of the most spectacular yet from the space telescope.

Giant, newborn stars here are carving away surrounding gas & dust. The bright pair at center is two of the most massive stars known. The dark spire is 50 trillion kilometers tall! 🧪🔭

1/ NGC7822 and Sh2-170, the Flaming Skull and Little Rosetta nebulae, collectively a.k.a. the Question Mark Nebula, are two targets I had only photographed separately in past years. In particular, I devoted countless hours to the Flaming Skull, trying to get a decent result... 🔭

Saturn makes up for a small ring tilt with Titan shadow transits! I captured this last night around midnight. Titan, its shadow, and Saturn's shadow on the rings brings out the 3rd dimension. Titan is larger than Mercury and its atmosphere is thicker than Earth's. Details in ALT #astrophotography

I captured 60+ hours of exposures over 12 nights to create this 8-panel mosaic of the entire Veil Nebula. I used HSO filters for the nebula and RGB filters for stars. Image shows how H (red), S (green), and O (blue) mix in the debris in the supernova remnant. Capture details in ALT #astrophotography
