I know people warned that kids bring home the plague but this is just ridiculous. 😷🤒 I've been sick on and off since start of February and this latest one was so rough that I haven't touched a computer in 4 days. I'm so bored.

Latest petpeve. I see LLM AI as a future tool. A hyped up hammer people currently are trying to use to solve anything.

What really annoys me is that it's made it impossible to Google for traditional ai methods for games unless I figure out very specific keywords which makes discovery impossible.

So #godot autotiling is not... great I've learnt. It's slow, it gives weirds inconsistent results. So decided to put something quickly together that is aimed specifically to what I need and well... let's say there sure is some difference in performance.

Has anyone got a good podcast that covers the 30 year war? I want to have some good historical podcasts to listen to.

We got provinces! Took me a while to figure out how to render the borders but think I got something going.

Oh to be a baby and just eat cheese, is it healthy to be jealous of my 1 year old son?

Been fiddling a bunch with the experiment from yesterday and realised the auto tiling in #godot is seriously slow.

For now I build the Tilemap in the editor over several frames but that's not going to scale. I want the map to be 4k eventually.

Got a start to the port interface thrown together. Next thing is to be able to plan and expense a voyage to make some profit. 🤑

With your raised capital from your shareholders, you can now commission a ship in any port your company have an office in.

Got pathfinding up and running, always better to go with what I know and not something fancy and use simple provinces like pdx games.

Setting up some test provinces for the pathfinding in #godot, hoping that will be a bit faster than just feeding the builtin AStar class every single pixel (which takes about 30 seconds on my machine).

Implemented a bunch of mechanics around raising capital from investors and paying out dividends to the shareholders. Next to setup your mercantile fleet. #godot #gamedev

It's a bit annoying in #godot that every node has a member 'name', I often end up clashing with it. What do others use as a member to circumvent that?

Throwing together a little prototype in #godot for Christmas. Love just throwing together a mockup in the engine.

Been playing around with Godot during my parental leave to keep myself somewhat sane... or at least so I thought. It's resources all the way down.
