Such a great set last night. I endorse this plan.

Everyone I met was very nice and my main contact in particular struck me as capable and well-intentioned; but it was poisoning the well of crowdfunding - which I remain a believer in- and I'm very glad of my near miss. Thanks for this insight - hope you find good bridges to replace the ones you burn

I just stopped mentioning it at all once I discovered the near criminal, profit skimming amounts that they were charging for postage and the dismissive way they were treating backers I had an established relationship with - it felt like donating my own store of goodwill to build them a firewall.

I quiet quit my funding campaign once it became clear that the idea was to trick my non existent rich relatives into crowdfunding a rather lavish publishing house rather than to crowdfund the book.

Interesting, yeah. Good spot anyway - the phrase that stuck out for me was 'defiantly orange' which *is* a cliché, but also is a figurative connection that you'd really require embodied experience of seeing colours in the world to come up with. I'm not sure what I think about it though.

But my reaction to a human author repurposing it in that way would be as it is to the two authors who have repurposed it as a title - to accept that ironic (or otherwise) referencing is valid. But, you're right, cliché is too far.
