Abolition Game - Current Project
@silver-guillotine.itch.io
I have a small idea what I'm doing. I'm working on a prison abolition game that engages people deeply in the policy choices that have created mass incarceration in the U.S. Emphasis on choices because there are other ways. https://silver-guillotine.itch.io
Pinned
Hello to all my new followers! I'm Sean (he/him), speak English and Spanish, and I'm learning #indiegamedev in my free time to try to change minds and create a better world through #prisonabolition.
I will mix game updates with news, my blog posts, and examples of successful reform. Advice welcome.
Progress is progress. I've got an itch page up for the game (silver-guillotine.itch.io/abolition-game) and some great background art commissioned from Smeet (vgen.co/SmeetPXL). I also have a new devlog there about what is abolition to me (silver-guillotine.itch.io/abolition-ga...)

Huge news today, if you missed it; Chris Duncan was released from Louisiana prison after being wrongfully convicted for nearly three decades.

@psfrench.bsky.social wrote this devastating but important read this spring on Louisiana’s rush to kill Jim despite junk science.

Chris Duncan’s death sentence—built on the testimony of two discredited doctors—illustrates just how faulty the system can be.

Police have access to massive surveillance networks that track the public whether they are suspects or not. That means probably for every 1 officer caught using the system to harass or spy on people they have feuds with, ex's, activists, journalists, there are probably 100 more we don't know about.

A weird thing about my job as a mentor to teenagers is that many of the parents need a mentor too and that's a lot to take on.

It looks different for both. Adults need support/connection. The help that would be spread between friends, family, and neighbors is not happening/not enough

Good thing this was offset by public sector job gains... hold on, I'm receiving new information... oh... oh no...
The U.S. private sector shed more than 13,500 jobs per week on average in October and early November, according to data released Tuesday by the private payroll processing firm ADP, offering one of the few real-time reads on a weakening labor market.
Private Job Losses Sped Up This Month — Here's What To Know.
ADP’s weekly data shows private sector job cuts accelerated — as economists look toward alternative indicators as the federal government has not released labor reports.

Rewatched Arcane recently and that interrogation scene where Singed says "In my experience no one in power is innocent."

Like, I don't like the guy, but he has the best line/comeback of the whole series.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

Indie devs can use it on their game's store page to assure potential players that their game was made without the use of Generative AI.

This speaks to a major problem of letting mediocre people into positions of power. Only an incredibly incurious person would find RFK Jr. to be an intelligent learner.

Likely he confidently spouted BS and had power, both things the mediocre can't help but fall for
“Baby, don’t worry,” he said. “It’s not a worm.”
