One of the most dramatically underreported aspects of Trump 2.0 is his ultra-corrupt direct interventions in business. Handing companies to his friends, taking chunks of private companies for the sake of doing businesses, granting tariff exemptions as favors. He’s crushing the rules-based economy.

The trolling works because our news media absolutely will not accept the evidence of their eyes and ears, and feels compelled to avoid any accusation that the accused party denies. The idea that these guys are simply lying - that the news is simply getting worked - never seems to cross their mind.

Also, the Nazi winking troll technique that has become completely omnipresent in US government social media. It's out of control. The whole game is to drop as many clues as possible while never quite explicitly endorsing neo-Nazism, so if you accuse them of it they can say you're paranoid.
"Western civilization," the font, the 11 stars - 11 states in the confederacy, for the record.

Why is this never news? Why are we letting our government agencies do this sort of thing while the news agencies report on hallucinated trade deals and act like everything is normal

For decades now Republicans have insisted it only counts as racism if you specifically say the N word and then don’t apologize, and the political press has decided that’s the definition of racism.

Phang: Putting aside the big bullshit bill that just got passed in the House in the dark hours of the night, DOGE has single-handedly destroyed so much of our federal government. We, as Americans, deserve to know why they have done it, how they have done it, and what they are continuing to do.

So, what’s the easiest way to stop using Google?

According Dexterto, this is a test of Google's new "Veo 3" AI they are experimenting with. EVERYTHING you see here is AI generated. 😐

God get me out of this timeline.

Something I hadn't realized until going through the trade data recently is that Mexico has surpassed China to become the #1 source of US computer imports. Imports of computers are close to passing cars to become the #1 Mexican import, which is insane if you know the size of the Mexican auto industry

conservatives have better aesthetics online and have been beating our crusty asses for years which is how you get the brilliant takes that the internet just isn’t real life so we shouldn’t invest in a left media ecosystem bc that requires offline community bc we don’t have $$$$ like ben shapiro
Unfortunately the stuff that most people are consuming online to distract themselves from politics (or because they don’t care about politics at all or think politics are going swimmingly) is also a covert pipeline designed to make them more conservative. Lifestyle, entertainment, pop culture, etc

WIC. They are pausing WIC.

That's the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. Last time I checked (a while ago), every dollar spent on WIC produced over a dollar in savings *in the same fiscal year.* For most people, though, feeding infants and mothers is enough.
Broader agreement that it to applies to discretionary spending payments (Head Start, WIC, etc).
