This is also why GovHK is arresting ppl for sedition cos they said relevant govt officials are partly to blame and should also be held accountable. If there's one thing this govt has made clear, it's that you do NOT get to blame the govt for anything it isn't willing to take responsibility for.
If you don’t understand why so many Hongkongers are not satisfied by a handful of arrests and do not feel like justice has been done or that the system is working — read this.

AFP question to Chief Executive John Lee:

"Over the past few years, you have spoken about leading Hong Kong from chaos to order and from order to prosperity. And yet this prosperous society allowed 151 people to burn to death. Can you tell us why you deserve to keep your job?"

This disaster, which left 39 killed and 92 injured, took place in 2012, and here we are in 2025 still waiting for a final verdict.
I can say with certainty that justice for those affected by the Tai Po fire will take a very very long time…

Since earlier today, an endless stream of Hong Kongers have come to Tai Po to pay their respects and mourn the lives lost to the fire. Some people estimate that they have waited in line for up to 2 hours so they could lay down their flowers.

When insecurity runs deep, everything looks like a security threat. This sort of paranoia will only deepen public resentment and distaste towards the Hong Kong government and its Beijing Overlord.
The HK authorities arrested a student on sedition charges because he made a petition asking the government to 1) ensure accommodation for displaced residents; 2) setup independent investigation; 3) review construction supervision system 4) probe regulatory neglect.

Doodles for Hong Kong 🇭🇰

In response to the tragic Tai Po fire, I'm doing charity commissions. Anyone who puts over £25/250HKD into "Feeding Hong Kong" or Hong Kong SPCA can request a coloured doodle of any prehistoric animal 🙏

Hong Kongers express their solidarity with the victims of the Tai Po fire by writing words of encouragement and sympathy on Post-It notes. An act that disappeared since 2019 but apparently remain unforgotten since then.

It ain't the bamboo that burned. The plastic straps tieing it together melted. The green mesh went up like a torch. And check the windows. The unburned building still has the styrofoam in the windows. The burned ones has the styro go up in flames like styro!

Construction sites all over the city are hastily removing the safety nets. Just shows you how rampant this corrupt behaviour has been - and how little oversight there is.
