You might ask why the Sec. for Security is talking about a civilian fire, but that's so any criticism of the horse hockey he's shoveling can be branded a threat to national security. I'm sincerely surprised they haven't just blamed Jimmy Lai.

Secretary for Security Chris Tang:
⚠️ The protective nets' fire-protection performed up to spec, but the foam boards installed on windows surrounding the buildings were highly flammable.
The extreme heat caused the windows to burst, allowing the fire to enter buildings

In case you thought you were safe bc you aren't one of his currently identified enemies to kidnap and deport, take a look at this line:

I don’t know how much it must be said and why so-called international media seems to be so bad at it even now, but talk to Hongkongers about what is happening Hong Kong, not “experts” thousands of miles away

Hong Kongers express their solidarity with the victims of the Tai Po fire by writing words of encouragement and sympathy on Post-It notes. An act that disappeared since 2019 but apparently remain unforgotten since then.

renews_hkTo everyone who is closely following Hong Kong’s deadly fire from abroad,This is a letter penned by an independent journalist in Hong Kong.Allow me to first express my gratitude to many of you who have continued to show care and concern regarding Hong Kong’s deadliest fire in decades. Let us pray for those who perished and families who have lost their loved ones.Over the past couple of days, you may have read various accounts from regional and international media outlets about what caused the blaze at a housing estate where renovations were underway. Some of the reports have highlighted the buildings’ bamboo scaffolding or working platforms with wooden planks as a key reason for why the fire spread so quickly. The Hong Kong government also announced on November 27th, its intention to fully replace bamboo scaffolding with metal alternatives. As bamboo scaffolding is not commonly used elsewhere, the decision to phase it out has reinforced the impression that this method is dangerous and backward. However, this view cannot be more different to what the general public in Hong Kong thinks. The statements below are based on known facts or official announcements.View all comments
