My favorite example of this is that in 1977 George Lucas got the idea thay C-3PO was once reassembled by a boy who worked for a junk dealer. Anakin making Threepio feels like an insane addition to the rest of us, but to Lucas it was elegantly closing a loop he had been living with for thirty years!

One fun thing about Star Wars is the ideas George Lucas just couldn't get rid of. "Flying porpoises" eventually got realized as Kaminoan aiwha but they first showed up as the species that built the Millenium Falcon(!) back when George Lucas was filling out the worldbuilding pre-Empire.

Still, god bless Takehito Ito and his Towards Stars universe. Guns that shoot magic, spaceships with arms, and a planet so sexy it forces Cartoon Network to create a successful adult programming division. One of my favorite things in the world.

The thing about Angel Links is that in practice the show is terrifically mid, but in single illustrations holds the complete promise that anime has ever offered mankind.
