It was this kind of insanity that solar was supposed to help greenhouse issues.
Have they sold off the oaks for biofuel to feed into the bottomless pit of AI ???

Seedlings? Why bother??
Oaks grow so slowly.
This is criminal.

If you're cutting down trees--especially slow-growing trees--in order to put up solar panels, you're doing something wrong. There are plenty of places to install solar, that have double benefits: over parking lots, over irrigation canals, etc.

But we need energy for data centers to train ai models which will become god like and teach us how to stop deforestation!

Don’t you understand? Abundance, yimby, and so forth! The future is tomorrowwwww and beyyyyonnnddddd!!!

clearly we cannot afford to cut more large trees. plant more trees. create more efficient ways to use solar power

If you are cutting down trees to install solar panels, you have a fundamental misunderstanding about the dynamics of human induced climate change.

You know what else would create jobs? Installing solar on the roofs of homes where it's being used. And without all the habitat loss.

Insane! Oak savannas are the great north America eco system. They already only a pittance of their original size. Solar goes on brown sites

It makes zero sense. Completely counterproductive. Solar should never be built on greenfield sites. We need all the carbon absorption and biodiversity we have left.

I'm immediately suspicious that the pushback against this is driven by fossil fuel interests.

I love my solar panels on my roof and was raised by a hard core environmentalist but I would never support this! Trees matter!!

We need to keep the ancient trees.

Why cut down trees for solar. There is so much freaking grassland in california!!! What the heck!!!

Exactly. This is part of the reason why it's dumb. This state should be able to totally integrate the power sources & there should not be competing companies.
Build out solar where literally no one will ever live and fuel the entire state.

Trees in N. Cal are dying from an onslaught of diseases, insects and drought. Every tree should be considered essential to the health of the dwindling environment of Northern Cal. Someone must advocate for the trees.

Why can’t they put solar farms along railway lines or freeways or on every rooftop in California. There are thousands of square miles of you look at all the different rooftops. Commercial, residential etc…

Can an environmental group file suit to stop this madnessm

Solar should be in Lancaster or Palmdale - nearly 335 days of sunshine without clouds.

Too many cloudy, rainy days near Sacramento. Need old growth trees for oxygen. Backwards thinking by politicians!
