Europe's electricity system is changing rapidly and often in places that don't make the headlines.

Look at Estonia - not that long ago and fossil fuels dominated around 90% of electricity generation.

Today solar and wind eat more and more into the share of fossil fuel-generated electricity.

📣A just transition away from fossil fuels needs public money, and rich countries need to pay their fair share 📣

One limitation of tracking methane via satellite is that they don't "see" methane plumes over water. To see how this works in real time look at the middle image below from @karinkirk.bsky.social's new article.

There is a plume on both sides of the river. But it is not visible over the water.

🔎 What's clear? The world doesn’t need fossil-fueled tech-fantasies justifying business as usual for big polluters and tech billionaires.

It needs a future rooted in renewable energy, accountability, and justice, and a climate process with a robust conflict of interest policy. #EndFossilFuels

Yes, we pay multiple times for fossil fuels in the US. Subsidies; pump or utility bills; poorer health when close to FF processing or from airborne particulate matter from gas/diesel vehicle exhaust & wildfires ; worse weather from the CO2 pollution blanketing the earth. We pay for them to kill us.
💸The Trump admin gives the fossil fuel industry nearly *35B* a year in handouts. That money could fund food assistance for 3M families. The money to ensure everyone has what they need to thrive exists – it’s just in the wrong hands. bit.ly/47PPvZ9
